Relevant and thought-provoking, this devotional journal will encourage and challenge you to take God’s Word to heart and allow it to work Christ-likeness in you. Each day, the Scripture provides the opportunity for you to judge your own behavior against God’s standard; the narrative challenges you with practical application to use in your home or community; and the journal pages offer a place to record the insight you glean from each lesson. We often don’t know what is in our hearts until we start writing. It’s when we see the truth about ourselves that we can begin the necessary changes. Taking God’s Word to Heart draws from the hundreds of Bible lessons Cheryl Samelson Skid has written and taught to women in the United States and abroad since 1983.

Cheryl Samelson Skid was born into a Jewish family, and never had the slightest interest in Jesus or Christianity. However, in 1978, when Cheryl was on her way to report a teacher who was evangelizing in a public school, Jesus Christ came and sat in the passenger seat of her car and said, “I Am Who they say I Am. I Am the Son of God.” With tears of repentance and total commitment to her newfound Savior, Cheryl entered a path that birthed Women With A Vision in 1983. Through this non-profit ministry, she teaches women how to grow in Christ and impact their world. Cheryl has taken the gospel to over 25 nations. She has a master’s degree in special education and retired after twenty five years of teaching. She and her husband Neil have been married 40 years and live in Florissant, Missouri.
