God Loves Us
God created us in His image, to know Him (Genesis 1-4; Colossians 1:16).
Sin separates us from God. Sin is willful rebellion against
our holy God. All have sinned (Romans 3:10,23). The penalty for sin is death, judgment (Romans 6:23; Hebrews 9:27). No amount of good works can pay for our sins (Isaiah 64:6).
God is not mad at us. He proved His love for us by sending His sinless Son Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins with His own blood on the cross (1 Peter 3:18; Romans 5:8). By accepting Christ, we can receive salvation. Salvation is forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life (Acts 2:38; John 3:16).
God invites us to come as we are and receive His gift of salvation (Isaiah 1:18; Romans 6:23). To accept Christ, we must Admit and repent of our sin (Acts 20:21);
Recognize we can’t save ourselves (Titus 3:5); Acknowledge that Christ paid for our sin (Romans 5:8); Accept Christ as our Savior and Lord (Romans 10:9,10).
Baptism alone does not save, but it is an essential part of claiming salvation (Acts 2:38). The New Testament practice is baptism by immersion as soon as one turns to Christ.
